English in the world Series

English in the World series has been conceived to address research themes that are considered cutting edge of English studies with special attention to how contemporary English is used worldwide in various programmatic contexts. This notion, reflected in the series title, English in the World, attempts to bring together various sub-disciplines within English studies that have a functional orientation and emphasize the social and cultural contexts of language use. The series is envisaged as monographs written by established authors and newcomers to the field, primarily in and about English, to reach the widest possible audience and to serve as a guide for future English studies. However, papers are also contemplated featuring other languages and contributions in Spanish in order to reflect the origination of the series and its integration into a prestigious Spanish university press.

La colección English in the World ha sido concebida con el fin de abordar temas de investigación que se consideran de vanguardia en los Estudios Ingleses con especial atención a cómo se utiliza el inglés contemporáneo en diferentes partes del mundo y en una variedad de contextos programáticos muy distintos. Este propósito queda reflejado en el título de la colección, English in the World, que intenta reunir varias subdisciplinas dentro de los Estudios Ingleses con una orientación funcional y que hacen hincapié en los componentes sociales y culturales del uso de la lengua. La colección se concibe, por tanto, como un conjunto de monografías, escritas por autores consagrados o por más jóvenes en la disciplina, principalmente en y sobre el inglés, con el fin de llegar a un público lo más amplio posible y de servir de orientación para los estudios ingleses del futuro. No obstante, también se contemplan títulos en otras lenguas y contribuciones en español con el fin de reflejar el origen de la serie y su integración en una editorial universitaria española de prestigio.
