Dimensions of Humor

This is the first edited volume dedicated specifically to exploring humor in the academic world. It is a rich collection of essays by an international array of scholars representing various theoretical perspectives and practical orientations in the disciplines of Linguistics, Literature, Cultural Studies, and Translation, but all concerned with the interactional aspects of humor. The two main reasons behind the publication of this volume are, first, to continue the journey along the path towards full recognition of humor as a discipline worthy of research and assessment, and, second, to offer a new and integrating perspective on hu¬mor to showcase the wide range of dimensions that it offers. This book is sure to become an important reference and source of inspiration for scholars in the various subfields of Humor Studies: Linguistics, Literature, Cultural Studies, and Translation.

Este es el primer volumen editado dedicado específicamente a la exploración del humor en el mundo académico. Es una rica colección de ensayos escritos por una selección internacional de académicos que representan diversas perspectivas teóricas y orientaciones prácticas en las disciplinas de Lingüística, Literatura, Estudios Culturales y Traducción, pero todos preocupados por los aspectos interactivos del humor. Las dos razones principales que motivan la publicación de este volumen son, en primer lugar, continuar el camino hacia el pleno reconocimiento del humor como disciplina digna de investigación y evaluación, y, en segundo lugar, ofrecer una nueva e integradora perspectiva sobre el humor y mostrar la amplia gama de dimensiones que ofrece. Este libro seguramente se convertirá en una importante referencia y fuente de inspiración para los académicos en los diversos subcampos de los Estudios del Humor: Lingüística, Literatura, Estudios Culturales y Traducción.
